
Your course programme will be structured to cover three main areas:
1. Training for National Governing Body (NGB) instructor qualifications**
2. Further experience on a variety of non-NGB activities.
3. Experience working along side our staff with a wide range of client groups
Training and Qualifications
Candidates will be given an opportunity to be trained and/or assessed (please read carefully the notes below regarding experience) in a selection of the following:
Rock climbing
Mountain Leader Training Board (MLTB) * **
Single Pitch Award (SPA)
Mountain walking
Mountain Leader Training Board (MLTB) * **
Walking Group Leader Award (WGL) * **
Mountain Leader Summer (ML) * **
First Aid
BCU Aquatic First Aid
Mountain and Outdoor First Aid - 16 hour course (as required by most NGB Awards)
Kayaking
British Canoe Union (BCU)
BCU Star Tests
BCU Level II Coach *
Canoe Safety Test
Power Boat
Royal Yachting Association Power Boat Level 2
* MLTB Single Pitch Supervisor Award, Mountain Leaders, WGL and BCU Coach all require a valid first aid certificate if you are going for assessment.
** The MLTB has certain pre-requisites for SPA, WGL and ML Summer Training before training can begin. Please read the information on the Course pre-requisites page or telephone either the MLTB or ourselves if you need to clarify these pre-requisites. The outcome of the course in terms of actual qualifications is dependant on pre-course experience...we only have 28 days.
Further experience can be gained on a variety of activities. These do not necessarily require National Governing Body Qualifications, but training will enhance experience and future employment. Such activities include:
Training and experience whilst working along side our staff at a professional residential centre with a wide range of client groups.
