Course aims:
Many personnel leave the services with a good background in adventurous activities and related skills. They may also hold military qualifications that will enable them to instruct these skills to other service personnel, but they need the civilian equivalent to enable them to gain employment within the civilian outdoor and training industries.
Skern Training and Development has developed a unique 28 days training course to build on your previous experience in outdoor pursuits, and offer you an opportunity to acquire training, development and qualifications.
This intensive course will identify strengths and weaknesses in both technical and inter-personal skills.
Course content, qualifications and experience:
Applicants to the course will vary in their previous experience of teaching outdoor activities. A core programme will run for the course. Individual requests will then be taken into account to tailor your programme for you.
It is most important to understand that the Governing Bodies, particularly in the mountain environments, require a large amount of experience before some training courses or assessments can be undertaken. Please visit the Course pre-requisites page, particularly the references to the number of walks/climbs required at various stages. A link to their website can be found under Course Pre-requistics.
We want you to leave with governing body awards but the course outcome is dependant on previous experience. Start logging now!
