Schools overview
Schools use visits to Skern for a mix of different reasons:
- As part of activities week
- To form the new year group in the Autumn term
- To fulfil elements of the National Curriculum, Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Ask for our separate leaflet
- To extend school activities with equipment and facilities not normally available.
- As a personal development and team working programme.
- For rugby camps – where just the residential centre is required
- For pure multi-activity fun
We do not have a standard programme at Skern Lodge – your course is tailor made for your school.
Tell us clearly what your aims are and we will help you achieve them.
Making your job easier
We have been providing multi-activity courses for schools for over 30 years. Our friendly office staff will help you at all stages of your booking and in preparation for your course.
We welcome inspection and preview visits. Please phone or e-mail to make arrangements.
Ask us for our Schools DVD. View it yourself and then use it with pupils and parents. We provide every parent with a briefing leaflet. In addition, we will visit your school to help brief and prepare your group if you wish – at no extra charge.
Free places for accompanying staff – see the pricelist for details.
Our aim – excellence in courses and services – is made easier to achieve because the Skern staff team is on site with you at the Lodge. On your arrival, one of our staff team is allocated to be your Course Director, co-ordinating all aspects of the course with you. You have available at Skern, the owners and full management team to ensure everything runs smoothly and to help with any problems.
There is plenty of space on site for games in free time, boundaries are clear, accommodation is easy to supervise and there is 24 hour duty cover.
Personal Development
The residential experience at Skern Lodge develops young people's personal and social skills, and can be great fun! Team building, problem solving, communication, working and living together, combined with the range of exciting activities, gives young people the best experience they can have; skills not only invaluable in the classroom, playground and on the sports field, but also in later life at work.
