The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom are a registered charity existing to promote and champion Learning Outside the Classroom so all children and young people can benefit from increased opportunities for high quality and varied educational experiences.

Following a successful assessment we now hold the 'Learning Outside the Classroom' accreditation.

Gold winners 2009 -

The Green Organisation is an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

Andy and Sarah attended the Awards Ceremony at the House of Commons in November.  They were thrilled to gain the Gold and be presented with the Green Apple Trophy which is proudly on display in reception.

 

The outcome of food hygiene inspections in Torridge is displayed at food premises using a traffic light system to indicate the current hygiene status of food businesses and previous performance history. 

Skern Lodge got the green light and received the top hygiene rating of 5 stars and an overall excellent this November.

Award Finalists 2009 -

Devon Environmental Business Initiative is a networking organisation set up to inform, support and motivate businesses, of all sizes and from all sectors in Devon, to adopt environmentally sound and profitable business policies.

In 2009 Skern Lodge entered the Sustainable Devon category. Four members of the Skern team attended the very enjoyable awards ceremony at the Met Office in Exeter, and proudly received a framed certificate and bottle of local bubbly.

This year saw our re-assessment for the Investors in People Award, which once again, we passed with flying colours. A quote from the report said:

'It's one thing to have an activity centre that has quality
equipment, activities, residential facilities etc. but all this
is secondary to the attitude and expectations of the staff
and instructors'.

Highly Commended 2007 -
